1936 Coral Pelikan 101. These are the holy grail for serious Pelikan collectors, in green, red, and blue. The Coral may be the most common of the 101s--and the most beautiful. This pen, however, does have some issues. It has a name, as the images show. Apart from that the caplip has been rebuilt by Osman Sumer. Without magnification, it appears perfect; under magnification you can see that he missed on the contour of the very edge of the lip. Otherwise, it is a nice, early captop. Also at some issue is the binde. A noted German collector who has no financial interest in it and does not know the seller from whom I bought it thinks it is simply extraordinarily clean and perfect. I'm not so sure; I think it may be of recent manufacture. Now, the most recent coral sold (in LA, if I recall correctly) for $4400.00 and it was just slightly better (on top) than this one. Because of the above issues, this one is priced at PE1284 |
